Traveling on Nisyros (Informations current in 2006)

  1. Public Bus

  2. On Nisyros the public bus goes several times a day from Mandraki to Nikia und back. It is free of charge.
There is an official schedule, but it only  describes the departure time in Mandraki. The ral route varies and therefore the departure times of the other villages can only be rough estimated (driving time Mandraki - Pali 5 - 10 Min., Mandraki - Emborios 15 - 20 Min., Nikia - Emborios 10 Min, Nikia - Pali 20 - 25 Min.). It's all right to be at the bus stop just before the given or estimated departure times.
For the really route and departure times of the bus it is best to ask the bus-driver if you can speek enough greek for this little conversation.

In the early season there is only twice a day from monday to friday a bus. At the weekend and in the school-holydays (Whitsun) the bus dosn't go.

Sometimes tickets are left and will be sold by the traveling agencies in the harbour just before departures of the busses.
